'In every child there is a space that only God can fill' St Thomas Aquinas

Welcome to the website of Holy Trinity Catholic Academy, Newark, Nottinghamshire.

Welcome to the Foundation 2 class page. Mrs Willis (previously known as Miss Smith) is our class teacher and Mrs Smith and Mrs Woods are our class teaching assistants. Here you can find lots of information about Foundation 2 as well as keeping up to date with all of the exciting things that we get up to throughout the school year.

For the first part of the half term we are going to be getting to know each other. We are going to be creating self portraits and going on tours of the school. We will be bringing in boxes from home with some of our special items and sharing them with the class. We will be looking at the different senses we have and carrying out different investigations to test them. This will of course include baking some yummy treats.

For the second part of the half term we will be learning all about Autumn. We will be visiting the orchard next door to the school to collect apples and then making our famous Foundation apple crumble. Mrs Smith's hen will visit us as part of our 'Little Red Hen' topic and we will make some yummy bread.

We will be carrying out our favourite 'Nature School' sessions on a Monday where we have a full morning of outdoor learning in our school ECO land.

Our RE topic is, 'The Domestic Church' where we will be learning all about the Church being our family and that we belong to God. We will be carrying out lots of art activities and making visits to the Church to look at all the special items.

In FSW our PE lessons are on Thursday mornings so all children will need their PE kits on this day. The correct PE kit consists of: a white t-shirt and red shorts for indoor sports. Trainers are required for outdoor activities. All children will receive a school reading book to take home. These books will be changed once a week. Please try to ensure your child reads at home for at least 15 minutes each night and gets their home/school diary signed to indicate that this has happened. Please encourage your child to read other books at home as well. We go into ECO land every Monday so your child will need waterproof clothing and sensible shoes.
