Welcome to the Foundation 2 class page. Mrs Willis is our class teacher and Mrs Smith and Mrs Woods are our class teaching assistants. Here you can find lots of information about Foundation 2 as well as keeping up to date with all of the exciting things that we get up to throughout the school year.
We can't believe it is the Summer term already. We have another very busy and exciting half term planned. Our current interest is animals so we will be learning all about pets, farm animals and zoo animals. We will also be looking at endangered species at the end of half term and raising money for them through a special, 'Wear it wild day.'
We will use some popular story books to support us in our learning including 'Dear Zoo' and 'Handa's Surprise'. We will be talking about our own pets at home and pets we would like to have. We will be having a visit from Mrs Smith's tortoise and carrying out observational drawings. We will be writing our fact books about farm animals and using our new school library to find out more information.
We will continue to work on our fine motor skills and independence through making animal themed snacks.
Towards the end of this term we have an exciting trip planned to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park.
On Mondays we continue our favourite 'Nature School' sessions on a Monday where we have an afternoon of outdoor learning in our school ECO land.
Our RE topic is, 'Good News' where we will be exploring what Good News is and learning about the special celebration of Pentecost.
In FSW our PE lessons are on Thursday mornings so all children will need their PE kits on this day. The correct PE kit consists of: a white t-shirt and red shorts for indoor sports. Trainers are required for outdoor activities.
All children will receive a school reading book to take home. These books will be changed once a week. Please try to ensure your child reads at home for at least 15 minutes each night and gets their home/school diary signed to indicate that this has happened. Please encourage your child to read other books at home as well.
We go into ECO land every Monday so your child will need waterproof clothing and sensible shoes.
