Welcome to the website of Holy Trinity Catholic Academy, Newark, Nottinghamshire.

Welcome to the Foundation 2 class page. Mrs Willis is our class teacher and Mrs Smith and Mrs Woods are our class teaching assistants. Here you can find lots of information about Foundation 2 as well as keeping up to date with all of the exciting things that we get up to throughout the school year.

We have a very busy half term planned. We are going to be reading the 'Snow Queen' book and making our own story maps. We are going to be following a recipe to make snow dough so we can make little snowmen and will also be using our mathematical skills to make igloos from sugar cubes. We will be carrying out a water investigation to see what happens when you freeze water and will be learning all about arctic animals.

Soon we are going to be celebrating Chinese New Year by trying lots of different Chinese food, making lanterns and learning a special dragon dance.

We are excited to be taking part in the Big School Garden Watch where we tally the number of birds we see on our school grounds and in the park next door. We will be developing our fine motor skills when making bird feeders for the hungry birds and making binoculars to try to spot them.

On Mondays we continue our favourite 'Nature School' sessions on a Monday where we have a full morning of outdoor learning in our school ECO land.

Our RE topic is, 'Celebrations' where we will be learning all about the celebrations that happen in the Church. We will have a pretend wedding in the Church and act out all the special roles that are needed. We will also be carrying out activities to help us learn more about Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday.

In FSW our PE lessons are on Thursday mornings so all children will need their PE kits on this day. The correct PE kit consists of: a white t-shirt and red shorts for indoor sports. Trainers are required for outdoor activities. All children will receive a school reading book to take home. These books will be changed once a week. Please try to ensure your child reads at home for at least 15 minutes each night and gets their home/school diary signed to indicate that this has happened. Please encourage your child to read other books at home as well. We go into ECO land every Monday so your child will need waterproof clothing and sensible shoes.
