Roots to Food
This week we were visited by Chef Darren from 'Roots to Food'. He worked with Key Stage 2 in the morning teaching us all about the different food groups and educating us in how to cook more healthy foods with fresh ingredients. He then put this to test by leading two teams in a cooking competition. Team Dikkez took on Team Jezioro in the challenge with one team creating a fantastic chicken and pasta dish. The other team created a brilliant salmon fishcake with an oriental twist. After much deliberating the audience choose Team Jezioro's dish of chicken and pasta in a ragu sauce as the winner! Chef Darren then worked with all of the Key Stage 1 and Foundation Stage children in the afternoon with the wonderful aromas of freshly produced food drifting around the school. Chef Darren ended by encouraging all of us to eat healthily and cook more fresh food. To help us he gave us copies of the recipes to try at home.
