Welcome to the Year One and Year Two's class page. Miss Law is our class teacher. Miss Grimwood is our class teaching assistant along with Mrs Browne. Here you can find lots of information about Years One and Two as well as keeping up to date with all of the exciting things that we get up to throughout the school year.
Topic – A Walk on the Wild Side
Our Summer topic is called ‘A Walk on the Wild Side’. The unit is based on our environment including plants and animals. It will particularly focus on the plants used to grow foods, and animals and their habitats. The children will also learn about food chains and life cycles.
In Key Stage One our homework is given out on Friday and is due back to school no later than the following Thursday. It will normally consist of reading and spelling words containing sounds that we have been learning during that week.
Other homework will include Maths, Comprehension (Year Two), Topic and Come and See tasks.
Reading is such a valuable life skill and is also relevant across all subjects within school. Regular practise really does make a huge difference to reading ability, as does talking about what has been read with someone at home too. Please try to ensure your child reads at home for at least 15 minutes each night and gets their home/school diary signed to indicate that this has happened.
In our class, PE will take place on Monday and Wednesday. It is expected that your child will have the appropriate indoor and outdoor PE kit available on these days. The correct PE kit consists of: a white t-shirt, red shorts and plimsolls for indoor sports. Trainers are required for outdoor activities.
