Our Spring topic is called 'A Long Time Ago’.  This unit is based on fairy tales and events from the past. It focuses on recognising historical figures and events locally and nationally. The children will learn and compare fairy tales and will become familiar with the story language involved.  They will also learn about materials and their properties, landmarks and historical buildings.

In Key Stage One our homework is given out on Friday and is due back to school no later than the following Thursday. It will normally consist of reading and spelling words containing sounds that we have been learning during that week.

Other less frequent  homework will include Topic and Come and See tasks.

Reading is such a valuable life skill and is also relevant across all subjects within school. Regular practise really does make a huge difference to reading ability, as does talking about what has been read with someone at home too. Please try to ensure your child reads at home for at least 15 minutes each night and gets their home/school diary signed to indicate that this has happened.

In our class, PE will take place on Monday and Wednesday. It is expected that your child will have the appropriate indoor and outdoor PE kit available on these days. The correct PE kit consists of: a white t-shirt, red shorts and plimsolls for indoor sports. Trainers are required for outdoor activities.
