Our Routines

In UKS2 this year, National Curriculum & RWI spellings will be given out each week on Monday. These spellings should be learnt at home and then the children will be tested on them the following week.

Reading is also an incredibly important skill and is relevant across all subjects within school. Regular practice really does make a huge difference to both of these, as does talking about what has been read with someone at home too. Please try to ensure your child reads at home for at least 15 minutes each night and gets their home/school diary signed at least three times per week to indicate that this has happened. Reading Diaries will be collected in each Monday to check this is happening. Reading can also be logged on Class Dojo as a message or through the portfolio section.

Practicing times tables is a vital life skill that will help in all areas of your child’s Maths work. It is important that all children are confident and quick when recalling them. All children have access to the Times Tables Rockstar online platform, which is a great way to practice and develop confidence and recall of the various times tables facts. We will also continue to use the IXL learning platform, which all children will have access to. Starred objectives will be set for the children each term and these can be completed at home. Children’s login details for these apps/websites can be found in their reading diary, or contact your child’s class teacher for further support.

PE will take place on Monday and Wednesday in UKS2. On PE days, your child should attend school wearing their full PE kit. It is expected that your child will have the appropriate PE kit for these days in order to access the sessions appropriately. The correct PE kit consists of: a plain white t-shirt, red, black or navy shorts and trainers. A plain tracksuit can also be worn, especially when the weather is colder.
