Welcome to the Year One class page. Mrs Francis is our class teacher and Mrs Richards is our class teaching assistant. Here you can find lots of information about Year One as well as keeping up to date with all of the exciting things that we get up to throughout the school year.
Our Autumn theme is ‘Belonging’. In Come and See we will be covering Beginnings, Signs and Symbols and Preparing. Our topic is based on ‘Our World’. We will be learning about oceans and continents, toys from around the world, both past and present, and the materials that toys are made from.
In Key Stage One our homework is given out on Friday and is due back to school the following Wednesday. It will consist of reading and spelling words containing sounds that we have been learning during that week.
Other homework will include Maths, Topic and Come and See tasks.
Reading is such a valuable life skill and is also relevant across all subjects within school. Regular practise really does make a huge difference to reading ability, as does talking about what has been read with someone at home too. Please try to ensure your child reads at home for at least 15 minutes each night and gets their home/school diary signed to indicate that this has happened.
In our class, PE will take place on Wednesday. It is expected that your child will have the appropriate indoor and outdoor PE kit available on these days. The correct PE kit consists of: a white t-shirt, red shorts and plimsolls for indoor sports. Trainers are required for outdoor activities.
